The Yoruba word Alukoro Oba (Kings notifier) or town crier, also known as Alago Oba or Akede was the man who usually goes around town beating a slit drum known as Ikoro or Apoporo.
The Ikoro or Apoporo is particularly common in places like Ekiti, Akure and Ijesha today.
