OBASHIP IN YORUBA – THE BEGINNING OF A BETRAYAL FROM THE DEPTH OF WITHIN.
Arrowed in the attached picture is JOSEPH Adebayo Adewole, Arojojoye II, OBA OWÁ AJERÒ of Ìjerò, a town which is perhaps one of the major historic towns of Ekiti. It is infact a kingdom because there are several other smaller Obas, Baales and Chiefs under the Owa Ajerò.
If you look at the picture, the PEOPLE OF OWA who are subjects of the OBA OWÁ went totally on their knees in absolute submission to his awesomeness.
The OBA OWÁ in turn placed on their heads the horse tail and he would have been speaking to their lives.
His subjects had FAITH in the AUTHORITY OF HIS WORDS and therefore they knelt before him, and other Obas to SPEAK WORDS INTO THE LIVES.
It is their BELIEF AND FAITH that Joseph Adebayo Adewole was no ordinary mortal and the WORDS coming from his mouth carried DIVINE AUTHORITY and that they will surely come to pass in their lives over all things which bothered them.
And indeed it is true
On the head of Kabiyesi is the ANNOINTING and on his tongue is AUTHORITY which is called ÀSE.
Infact our ancestors say that the OBA DOESNT MAKE A WISH OR SUGGESTION BUT GIVES COMMANDMENTS.
Oba ki n’dáàba, yí ó pàse ni.
When the OBA PRAYS he more or less DECREED what he WANTED.
The OBA doesn’t say ” May we have good health”
No!!!
OBA will say:
” We WILL have good health”.
” All things WILL go as they should”
” You market woman, farmers, artisans, WILL make progress “
That is the way of the OBA.
And do you know why it is so?
He is no ordinary mortal but a deity.
He is the embodiment of the ÒRÌSÀS and through his mouth the ÒRÌSÀS carry out the task of OLÓDÙMARÈ, the supreme Unsearchable God Almighty.
When a man is chosen by IFÁ and thereafter taken through proper protocols of RITES, he goes into SECLUSION for some weeks. While there in seclusion he gets FORTIFIED, the SPIRITS of the various ÒRÌSÀS are invoked into his body through multiple means. Witches, Wizards and the 16 SACRED CULTS of Yoruba land PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE to him and they all submit to his authority.
Things are packed into that ONE MAN the way it can never be packed into any other man in that kingdom.
By the time he comes out of seclusion he is no ordinary man and you will know it yourself.
In 1999 I witnessed the ORO OLÚA festival in Ilogbo-Ekiti. I saw when the cult came out from their sacred grooves. Their eyes were like fire, the scene was frightening and I still remember till this day.
In those days, even till today, you couldn’t look straight into the eyes of the OBA without feeling problems within yourself. For Obas like Aláàfin, they were so powerfully fortified in those days, hopefully till now, that their faces were always covered when he come out to the public so as to ensure people didn’t run the risk of looking him in the eyes .
The OBA is the connection between our today’s present generation and yesterday’s generation of our ancestors.
Every single activity of social, cultural, political and spirituality in that kingdom reported to the OBA.
When you have disputed issues from head to toe and from right to left, the OBA’s word is FINAL.
It is never questioned.
He is the SUPREME COURT.
The OBA becomes the physical embodiment of the Òrìsàs, whom we don’t see.
When we look at the OBA, it is the belief of the Yoruba people that you were seeing Olódùmarè himself and you can then tell him your earthly issues and challenges and you receive your answer on wait-and-get basis.
It is like when the Christian sees his Bishop, he sees Christ in him. Why then should I look at my OBA and be seeing anything but the ÒRÌSÀS in him??????
The OBA has a team.
In that team is the CHIEF PRIESTS – ABORÈ AND OLÚWO.
They report to the OBA in his Palace!
The OBA is the reflection of our CUSTOM, CULTURE, TRADITIONS AND SPIRITUALITY
.
The OBA is the IDENTITY of his people.
THE OBA IS THE RALLYING POINT OF HIS PEOPLE
A man with such responsibility and preeminence couldn’t possibly be beneath ANY OTHER MORTAL in his kingdom.
OBA DOESNT BOW TO ANY OTHER MORTAL EXCEPT PERHAPS A SUPERIOR OBA WHO IS THEN NOT AN ORDINARY MORTAL.
I am giving you this preambles to understand who an OBA truly is.
The OBA is a Leader who must be seen to live and breath the CUSTOMS of his ancestors totally.
And it is so for most cultures.
It was so in our culture. The OBAS will normally send for the Priests to come to his palace if he needed to consult through the IFÁ. And the Priests will surely come. If there was any need to go to the Temples, the OBA had a seat where he sat through the proceedings while the Priests attended to him with utmost respect.
It is very much so in Benin of Edos and Warri of Itshekiris.
It is so in the culture recorded in OT OF YOUR BIBLE. Did you ever read where King David or Solomon went before any of the Prophets to kneel down before them? The Hebrew kings invited the Prophets to his Palace. If they had need to go to the Temple, the King always got serious reverence.
It is so in ARABIA. You dont see the Saudi King crawling before an IMAM or UZTAZ. For what?
It is so in ENGLAND. Did you not notice that ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY went on his knees before King Charles III as soon as he was crowned? The King of England is the Defender of the Faith and therefore all Bishops were beneath him
It is so in your various EMIRATES of Muslim leaders in Nigeria. When I was in Malabu-Fufore in Yola, you couldn’t even walk past the length of the Sarikin’s palace front and gates without taking off whatever footwear you had on.
It is the PASTORPRENEURS and today’s CONFUSED CHRISTIANS who are bent on corrupting and diluting our CUSTOMS and it is for a selfish interest.
So Prince Omo Obalóyè Òtùkò reported what he saw in Ekiti yesterday being 29th July 2023.
Joseph Adebayo Adewole, Arojojoye II, OBA OWÁ AJERÒ of Ìjerò, and Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaye, Oyinyosaye Uyin III, the OBA OLÚYÌN of Iyìn-Ekiti were seen in full public view as they went before a Bishop, a mortal man, and while also having the glory of their beaded crowns on their heads knelt before that Bishop in prayers.
And they even took “Holy Communion” a charge/doctrine derived from the Christian bible.
THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS BETRAYAL OF TRUST AND A SLAP ON THE SENSITIVITY OF THE 60 POPULATION OF YORUBA PEOPLE WORLDWIDE
And a man, YORUBA MAN, Kolawole Adesina wrote in defence to say”
” The Lord Jesus who they bow before, not the Bishop or any Pastor, is above ALL. Even the Babalawos know beyond your knowledge. Ask for the Odu IFA that eulogies HIM, Awo to ju awo lo. Oba ti gbogbo oba ndobale fun ninu iyewu ki nwon to di alase!
There’s a deity in Ilawe that does not entertain consultation or worship on Sabbath days. Legends has it that he had told them that he also worship the King of kings on that day and would not be available.”

I am not sure we have hope in Yorùbá land at this rate. The things you hear even from Yoruba people are supposed to be older than you will shock you.
There is so much IGNORANCE on the loose and many times these people are actually arrogant in their ignorance.
Okay, let’s dissect.
If you THINK, as you claimed, that when they knelt BEFORE the Bishop, it wasnt really before the BISHOP BUT GOD.
Why don’t you then THINK that when the OBAS KNELT DOWN, they weren’t really the persons they were but the WHOLE TOWNS/KINGDOMS whose crowns they wore on their useless heads?
If things continue this way a time will come when our OBAS will be going to their throne wearing shirts, trousers and ties and leaving their heads open.
Then we may not need to prostrate before any of them any more but extend “chop knuckles ” to them as greetings.
Then they will lose the ANNOINTING AND AUTHORITY.
Then they will not have the ÀSE of final authority over their kingdom.
Then they won’t be able to RALLY THEIR SUBJECTS.
Their various kingdoms are getting empty anyway, nothing binding anyone to his village any more these days. The various cults are getting diluted. The extended family traditions destroyed. Farming is no longer interesting. And the OBAS themselves are rarely facing their responsibilities.
Then the CRISES COMES, we won’t have AN OBA TO RALLY US because they themselves will be waiting for their funny Pastors for instructions. We won’t have the CULTS to rely on. We won’t have dependable Priests to help us sumourn the ÒRÌSÀS to rise for us. And we have already been assisted to DEMONIZE MEN LIKE TINUBU so we may not even get the benefit of Political Leadership to rally us into ONE.
AND LEADERSHIP HAS BEEN THE STRENGTH OF THE YORUBA NATION THROUGH THE CENTURIES.
THE LEADERSHIP DERIVES LEGITIMACY AND POWER FROM OUR CUSTOMS.
THAT CUSTOM IS EXACTLY WHAT WE ARE DESTROYING AND THE OBAS ARE LEADING THE ATTACK FROM RIGHT WITHIN.
And we are looking.
It’s an EXISTENTIAL THREAT. The earlier we begin to know this the better for us.
