the ògìdìgbó drum is beaten in drum beats like proverbs, it is the wise who dance to its rhythm correctly, and the knower that can understand or decode it.
Ogidigbo drum is usually confuse with àgídìgbo. Ogidigbo is a Yoruba drum that belongs to the gbẹ̀du class of drums, it is used to make coded messages or send long distance messages. It was mainly played in the royal court of the Aláàfin.
while àgídìgbo or molo, is a type of Yoruba musical instrument. it is large traditional plucked lamellophone thumb piano used by a thick ring in a hand, thumbs or knuckles.
The instrument produces sonorous tones. Because of the Yoruba language’s nature as a tonal language, the agidigbo can act as a musical “speech surrogate”, conveying language through its tones.
