Controversial OSUN naming ceremony and modern times contemplation
I was watching the controversial OSUN meaning ceremony or rituals where a new born baby was taken to the river in a very dirty environment and I said to myself , it doesn’t concern me neither does it has anything to do with me .
As if OSUN was hearing my thoughts or I forgot that OSUN and other ORISA hears my thoughts all the time as the son of OBATALA because that is where they drop their messages to me sometimes via the mind.
A quiet breeze blew and I felt a gentle touch around my shoulder, it was OSUN.
She (OSUN) said AJE NLA the son of OBATALA, I want to test your intelligence because I want you to write on this issue.
This made me to think and I would like to drop a simple note on the issue .
People at times think they are civilized and they set some rules for the ORISA based on their civilization.
In the olden days, OSUN priestess are always close to the river and OSUN is not yet available in a modern form as we have today where your OSUN can be in your house .
In those days, all OSUN priestess must be close to a source of water like river etc.
In those days, every OSUN priestess must converge at OSUN osogbo to celebrate OSUN which they are still doing till today.
If it were in the olden days, people won’t see anything bad about the naming ceremony and there would not be video coverage to see what someone somewhere is doing .
We are in a modern world where everyone has their own OSUN in their house and room. Do you really think it is necessary to take a baby to a river before such baby can have the blessings of OSUN ?
Even if they want to go to the river, they could have chosen a better river to go to ,.
That river might look bad but believe me, the name of OSUN echos more in people’s hear because of that rituals And for that, OSUN would protect that child till death .
I am not condemning what they do but am looking at it with modern eyes of today .
Everyone has OSUN in their house and they don’t need to go to the river for all kind of rituals except in some cases.
The rituals might be legit or not, the environment might be dirty or not… I want you to know that OSUN is happy, this video tells us that there is still tradition and some people are still doing it irrespective of modernization.
On a final note…
In everything we do, we should not forget Tradition and we should be thorough in dealings .
If you want to do video for anything, make sure it’s a clean environment.
Don’t project OSUN as a dirty ORISA and don’t project OSUN priestess and priest as dirty .
OSUN is happy and that child has the blessings of OSUN.
