ORISA Initiation vs OGBONI fraternity Initiation

This are two different things and they are not the same.

While OGBONI is known for whatever they are known for which is not the scope of this article .

To join an OGBONI cult or any other fraternity, you must undergo their Initiation rites and rituals to be a full blooded members of the fraternity.

Each fraternity has some ORISA at their meeting house (Iledi) and each fraternity had their own way of initiating new members into their cult .

After Initiation into OGBONI cult, you become a member sworn to abide by their rule and never to reveal any secrets or else you would die.

Being a member of OGBONI means that you would be in group of society with ranks and order and you might be at the bottom of the chain with others who has been there ahead of you owing some key post and position.

Being a member of OGBONI means that you would have access to the ORISA in the fraternity house and those ORISA can also work for you because during your rites and rituals you would he sworn before those ORISA and guided by the ORISA .

The type of ORISA in each fraternity differs, some fraternity contain some ancient blood sucking ORISA and in some fraternity the leaders are not as well trained as you might think .

The ORISA in the fraternity house belongs to every member of that cult and the OLUWO is always in charge of it, taking care of the needs of the ORISA and also making sacrifice to it on behalf of the members.

Not all fraternity favours everyone . It favours some people and it doesn’t favours others .

ORISA Initiation on the other hand is referring to you doing one particular ORISA Initiation eg someone doing OBATALA Initiation, OSUN Initiation, SANGO Initiation, OLOKUN Initiation etc.

After your ORISA Initiation you would have your own ORISA which is yours and yours alone, you may decide to make sacrifice to you ORISA for protection of your wife and children , for business and etc.

Your ORISA would be giving to you and the person that initiate you with the ORISA would be your OLUWO, guiding you physically and spiritually.
