Eji ogbe verse where Orunmila beg IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA for Initiation
One notable Odu is Eji Ogbe, which emphasizes the importance of seeking balance and alignment with these powerful feminine forces for success in rituals, particularly initiation ceremonies.
Here is an excerpt from Eji Ogbe:
“Bi a o ba bo Iya,
A kii ri ire gba.
A difa fun Orunmila,
Nigba ti n lo ree yan ile aye.
Iya lo ran’se fun mi,
Ki n lee maa s’aye dede.”
Translation:
“If we do not honor the Mothers,
We cannot receive blessings.
This was the Ifa cast for Orunmila,
When he was going to establish himself on earth.
It was the Mothers who gave their blessing,
So that he might live peacefully on earth.”
This verse points out that even Orunmila, needed the blessings of the Ìyáàmi to successfully carry out his divine mission.
You cannot receive the blessings of IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA without doing their Initiation or being Initiated into IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA.
Hence before you do IFA Initiation, it is mandatory to some some IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA rituals or else the IFA Initiation would not be activated.
IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA are superior and needed for any Initiation.
Do you think Orunmila would have been successful without IYAAMI ELEYE OSORONGA ?
