A Babalawo without Odu initiation is incomplete

In those days after IFA Initiation, a babalawo would be initiated into ODU Initiation to join the adepts of Babalawo in the spiritual realm.

ODU is owned and controlled by OBATALA, OBATALA priest cast ODU and not IFA but OBATALA priest of today don’t know what they are or meant to be. They just do nonsense.

Today babalawo don’t do ODU Initiation and it limits their understand and restrict them from accessing the spiritual realm to join past babalawo who formed the elites cults of Babalawo in the spiritual realm.

Below are IFA verse that speaks more on why ODU is mandatory for all babalawo.

Irosun Iwori – Odu Knowledge Goes Beyond Basic Ifa Initiation

“Ifa ni ki a mo Odu, ki a le mo ohun gbogbo”
“Awon ti ko mo Odu, won o le mo Ifa daadaa”
“A kii fi Odu sere, Odu lo mo Ifa ju Ifa lo”
“Ó dà fún Arámonda, tí yóò mo ohun tó sàn ju Ifá lọ”
“Ó dà fún Àrèmú, tí yóò gbé Odu síi ju Ifá lọ”
“Ifá ni: Bí a bá ti mo Ifá, a tún gbọ̀dọ̀ mo Odu

Translation & Meaning:
“Ifa says we must know Odu, so we can understand all things.
Those who do not know Odu cannot fully understand Ifa.
One must not joke with Odu, for Odu holds more Ifa knowledge than basic Ifa initiation.
This was cast for Aramonda, who sought wisdom beyond Ifa initiation.
This was cast for Aremu, who placed Odu above basic Ifa knowledge.
Ifa declares: Once we know Ifa, we must go further to know Odu.”

Interpretation:
Odu holds deeper secrets than basic Ifa initiation – This means that a person who undergoes Odu initiation gains more esoteric knowledge than one who stops at Ifa initiation.

Odu governs Ifa, not the other way around – Since Odu controls destiny and divine wisdom, knowledge of Odu is the key to unlocking the full power of Ifa.

A Babalawo must not stop at Ifa initiation – Ifa encourages further learning, and Odu initiation is part of that spiritual progression.

Does This Mean Odu Initiation Is Superior?
Itefa (Ifa Initiation) is the foundation. It gives a Babalawo access to Ifa and its divination tools.

Odu Initiation is an advanced stage that grants deeper mystical knowledge, power, and mastery over specific Odu.

Ifa initiation comes first, but Odu initiation unlocks greater wisdom.

Another Ifa verse that implies Odu initiation is superior to basic Ifa initiation comes from Odu Ifa Ose Otura. This verse highlights that without Odu, Ifa knowledge remains incomplete, and those who receive Odu initiation gain access to the highest level of wisdom.

Odu Ifa: Ose Otura – The Supremacy of Odu Knowledge

“A kii mo Ifa tan, ka fi Odu sílẹ̀”
“Odu l’ó dá ayé, Ifá l’ó n sọ̀rò ayé”
“Ẹni tó bá ti mo Odu, ó ti mọ ayé gbogbo”
“Ó dà fún Olúwo, tó fẹ́ mọ ohun tó ju Ifá lọ”
“Ifá ní, bí a bá ti mo Ifá, a gbọ̀dọ̀ mọ Odu, ká lè gbé ayé wa ga.”

Translation & Meaning:
“One cannot learn Ifa and abandon Odu.”
“Odu created the world, while Ifa explains the world.”
“Whoever knows Odu, knows the mysteries of existence.”
“This was cast for Oluwo, who sought knowledge beyond Ifa initiation.”
“Ifa declares: Once we know Ifa, we must also know Odu to elevate our destiny.”

Interpretation:
Odu is the source of creation – This means that Odu holds the highest knowledge in Ifa tradition.

Ifa explains life, but Odu controls it – A person who only undergoes Ifa initiation understands the basics, but one who undergoes Odu initiation gains the full spiritual authority over destiny.

A true Babalawo must receive Odu initiation – Ifa advises that after Itefa, a person must receive Odu initiation to reach the highest level of wisdom.
Is Odu Initiation Truly Superior?

Ifa initiation (Itefa) is the foundation that grants access to divination and spiritual guidance.

Odu initiation is the highest level of spiritual practice, granting mastery over cosmic knowledge and deeper esoteric secrets.

A Babalawo without Odu initiation is incomplete in his journey of spiritual wisdom.
