Can animals be reincarnated as Human? Is there reincarnation?

The concept of reincarnation is often expressed through the Yoruba belief in Àtúnwá, which means “returning to the world.”

One verse that speaks about reincarnation comes from the Odu Ifá Ogbe-Alara (Ogbe-Ala):

“A kii kú, a kii lọ.
A dìde dìde l’à ń dìde.
A tun wá yè l’ayé,
A tun wá gbé ilé ayé.”

Translation:
“We do not die, we do not disappear.
We rise and rise again.
We come back to live on earth,
We come back to dwell in the world.”

This verse emphasizes the Yoruba belief that life is a continuous cycle and that the soul returns to the world through reincarnation.

reincarnation (Àtúnwá) is primarily seen as the return of human souls through lineage, but there are verses that suggest spiritual transformation between forms, including animals to humans and vice versa.

One Odu Ifá that touches on the possibility of transformation between life forms is Ògúndá Méjì:

Ògúndá Méjì:

“Eni to bá lè jẹ ẹran, le di ẹran
Eni to bá lè jẹ ẹja, le di ẹja
Bí a bá fi ojú inú wo, a ó mo pé,
Àwọn ẹranko jẹ ara wa.”

Translation:
“One who eats meat may become meat.
One who eats fish may become fish.
If we look with inner sight, we will know that
Animals are part of us.”

This verse suggests an interconnectedness between humans and animals, implying that transformation or reincarnation across species is possible.
